Market Square

Market Square, formerly known as the Western Furniture Exchange and Merchandise Mart, consists of two buildings, 1355 Market and 875 Stevenson. The buildings are joined by a common space plaza and feature 890,000 sq ft of office space above 200,000 sq ft of street-level retail. The historic building was first completed in 1937 and since has been extensively renovated. In April 2011, Twitter finalized an 80,000 sq ft lease at 1355 Market, which has sparked a number of other tech companies to follow suit and is leading a revitalization of the Mid-Market area. BMC worked with BNBuilders on the renovation of the 11 story plus 1 floor of below grade parking at 1355 Market. BMC provided complete installations of the Sanitary Waste and Vent, Storm, Domestic Cold Water, High Pressure Cold Water, Hot Water Supply and Return, Condensate, and Booster Pump plumbing systems. BMC constructed a 125 gallon gas water heater and storage tank, laid medium pressure gas lines to the rooftop boilers and water heater and constructed a centralized fuel oil system. The project is pursuing a LEED® Gold certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.
